White House Summit Addressing Hate-fueled Violence in America

Calling All Uniters!

When the Executive Office of The President of the USA calls, you snap to attention! Working with our friends at Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), Kontent produced a series of films for the 2022 United We Stand Summit – a cross-party initiative to highlight and protest the rise in hate-related violence in America.

Against a super-tight schedule, Kontent interviewed 17 Americans, coming from many communities, faiths and beliefs, all making a real difference in countering hate through their actions. Even across a Zoom connection, their stories made powerful testimonies to hope.

Our films streamed across the nation and aired at the live event before the President and Vice President spoke.

We came away moved and inspired from the project. It was a privilege to work with the White House, The National Endowment for the Humanities and CAAM on this crucially important campaign.

We created an Anthem to open the live event, as well as four interstitials to play as table setters for the Uniters who attended the Summit in person. For the opening Anthem (above), we helped write the script narrated by Lisa Ling, sourced and edited relevant b-roll, and conducted 17 interviews with Uniters, Bridge Builders, and Connectors from across the country. Those testimonials created the heart, soul, and backbone for not only the Anthem but for the topic introductions during the run of the show. To say we did this all in under two and a half weeks would be unbelievable unless it were true. It’s true.

Bridge Builder (Uniters) Vignettes

A temperature check on the how Americans are feeling in this moment.

We need to build bridges — infrastructure of the human kind.

How do we find common ground? Let’s talk about it.

Despite it all, hope is what fuels Americans from all sectors of society.
